Choose by workload

Which plan is right for you?

Compare all three plans at a glance.

Rent a dedicated physical Mac mini—not a virtual machine. Mac mini M4 from $21.7/day, with daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly terms. Start by estimating concurrent workloads, memory, and storage needs, then decide whether long-term ownership makes sense.

All prices are in USD. Check the console for real-time availability of plans, locations, and add-ons.

Three Mac plans, side by side

Each column shows a complete configuration. Memory determines how much work you can handle at once; SSD capacity determines how much code, cache, models, and media you can keep. Compare more than chip names, and don’t confuse storage upgrades with more memory.

Separate base specs from add-ons

The SSD capacity shown above is included with each plan; storage upgrades cost extra. Thunderbolt 5 parallelization is also a separate add-on and won’t automatically speed up apps across machines. Check that your workflow supports parallelization, then confirm eligibility and final pricing at checkout.

Daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly rates are separate catalog prices. Don’t multiply the daily rate by the number of days to estimate another term. To compare the full bill, include the plan and any add-ons for the same term.

Choose by workload

Start with your workload’s bottleneck

Use these recommendations as a starting point, not a performance guarantee. Dependency count, compiler settings, simulator count, and data size all affect results. Test a representative task from your own project for a more reliable comparison than chip names alone.

Single-project builds and releases

Start with Keep M4 S.Specs: M4 / 16GB / 256GB. A good fit for focusing on one project at a time, with dependency installation, archiving, and artifact export all within one rental period.

Check the combined size of your repository, dependency caches, and DerivedData first. If you only need macOS for packaging, a short rental can help avoid paying for idle time between releases.

Watch memory pressure and swap in Activity Monitor. If you also need several simulators open during builds, clearing SSD space won’t solve a memory shortage.

Multi-branch CI and UI testing

Start with Keep M4 L.Specs: M4 / 24GB / 512GB. Compared with the entry-level plan, you get more memory and storage headroom. Both plans use M4, so the difference isn’t a chip upgrade.

Queue builds and UI tests separately, then increase concurrency gradually. Track duration, peak memory, and cache usage for each run to find a concurrency level that avoids frequent swapping.

Long-running runners also need cache cleanup, log rotation, and credential management. Choose a monthly rental based on actual usage, not just how many times a pipeline runs each day.

MLX inference and editing large media projects

Start with Keep M4 Pro.Specs: M4 Pro / 64GB / 2TB. Start here if you need more unified memory or want to keep model weights, evaluation data, and large media files on the same machine.

Model weights aren’t the only memory requirement: leave room for the context cache, runtime, and system. Quantization, context length, and batch size all affect which models will run.

For editing, check your media formats, proxy files, effects, and export settings. Test a representative clip first to estimate export time and storage growth before scheduling a full batch.

All three plans include the full macOS graphical interface and command-line environment. Check software installation, version compatibility, and third-party tool licensing against your workflow.

Rent or own?

Compare the total cost of the project

Buying isn’t just the cost of the hardware, and renting isn’t just the base fee. Put setup, data transfer, artifact storage, and day-to-day management time on the same cost sheet to see what fits your project.

Rent or buy: compare the same workload without assuming a retail device price
Cost factorRent a Cloud MacBuy a Mac mini
Upfront costPay for the selected plan, rental term, and add-ons—no need to buy the whole machine first.Pay for the device and accessories upfront. If you already own a machine, account for the opportunity cost of tying it up.
Idle timeSet the rental term around your project. Even when the machine is idle, the selected term remains paid service time.An unused machine still ties up money and space. Whether it pays off depends on utilization over time, not just the calendar span.
Network and powerThe service provider hosts the physical machine, but you still need to account for local connectivity and upload and download time. You manage power, networking, remote access, and troubleshooting. Costs differ between a home or office setup and a data center.
Upgrades and changing capacityChoose a different plan next time you rent; moving an existing workload means planning the environment and data migration. After buying hardware, you’ll need to keep using it, resell it, or buy again. Changing requirements may mean additional hardware costs.
Long-term useCompare weekly, monthly, and quarterly rates, including storage upgrades and management time.Estimate based on expected years of use, actual utilization, and resale value—not the purchase price versus a single short rental.

How to estimate a short-term build

Suppose you rent Keep M4 S for three daily terms, with no add-ons. The base fee uses the catalog daily rate: $21.7 × 3 = $65.1 USD. That’s the total for three daily terms, not a new bundled rate.

The weekly rate for the same plan is $58.7, so it’s worth comparing the weekly option for this project too. Don’t assume that a few days automatically means a daily rate is best. Check the final price, delivery deadline, and how long you need to keep the environment.

To estimate ownership costs, use: actual purchase cost − expected resale value + accessories + management time. We don’t provide made-up retail prices or break-even estimates. Use a real quote, then compare it with your projected rental spend.

Understanding the environment

Dedicated physical machines, not virtual instances

VpsKeep provides an entire dedicated physical machine, not a virtual machine. The comparison below covers environment characteristics; virtualization products vary, and dedicated hardware doesn’t guarantee specific app performance.

Check resource and tooling requirements before migrating your workflow
ConsiderationDedicated physical Mac miniVirtualized macOS
Dedicated performanceThe entire machine isn’t shared with other tenants. Background tasks you run will still compete for resources on the machine.Resource allocation depends on host scheduling. Ask the provider whether resources are oversubscribed and how neighboring workloads or quotas may affect your instance.
GPU and Neural EngineApps run on real Apple Silicon hardware. Actual acceleration depends on support in the framework, operations, and software version you use.Device access and acceleration depend on the virtualization implementation. Don’t assume MLX or other accelerated workflows will work just because macOS boots.
Apple software licensingRuns on Apple hardware. You must still follow the license and terms of use for macOS and your other software.Check the host hardware, virtualization method, instance usage, and applicable licenses. Compliance depends on the specific setup.
Debugging and reproducibilityNo virtualization layer, making it suitable for investigating issues sensitive to real hardware. Results still depend on the OS, toolchain, and project configuration.Snapshots or isolation can make testing easier, but verify that hardware-specific issues can be reproduced in the environment.
Testing scopeSuitable for builds, macOS workflows, and simulator tasks. A physical Mac node doesn’t include a physical iOS device.Check simulator, graphics, and external device support as well. A virtual environment isn’t a substitute for testing on a physical device.

Pin toolchain versions before migrating, then test with the same commit and build settings. Compare build time, peak memory, and test results; don’t mix cold-cache and warm-cache data.

Choose a location

Closer to your team and your data

All three plans are available in four Asia-Pacific locations: Singapore, Japan (Tokyo), South Korea (Seoul), and Hong Kong. For interactive remote work, start with connection quality; for automation, consider the routes for code, dependencies, and artifacts. Proximity is a starting point, not a latency guarantee.

Singapore

A good location to evaluate if your team is in Southeast Asia or your main data sources are nearby. For remote work, check responsiveness; for CI, also test dependency downloads and artifact transfers.

Test from your actual office network; one connection result doesn’t represent every carrier or route.

Available in catalog · sg

Japan (Tokyo)

If your team or data sources are in Japan, start with Tokyo. For builds and automation, also compare the actual routes to your repository, package cache, and artifact destination.

For command-line workloads, bulk transfer speeds may matter more than mouse-response latency.

Available in catalog · jp

South Korea (Seoul)

If your operators or media sources are in South Korea, consider Seoul. For editing, transcoding, and batch exports, include both media uploads and final file downloads in your time estimate.

Test the transfer and export workflow with representative files before uploading all your media.

Available in catalog · kr

Hong Kong

If your operators or business data are near Hong Kong, test this location first. Cross-network access still depends on carriers, routing, and local networks, so don’t rely on the location name instead of testing.

For team collaboration, prioritize people who need frequent remote access, then compare data transfer costs for everyone.

Available in catalog · hk

Check these three things before choosing

  1. Choose based on where the main operators and their networks are—not just your company’s registered address.
  2. Identify where your largest inputs and outputs are: code, models, media, or build artifacts. Which will transfer the most data?
  3. Check data storage requirements and backup routes. Changing locations involves migrating the environment and data; it doesn’t switch automatically while running.

All locations operate year-round, 365 days a year. Catalog coverage doesn’t guarantee real-time availability; check the console for current status.

Choose a plan, then check the term

For builds, check memory pressure; for inference, account for total model requirements; for editing, consider media and cache. Next, compare the four rental terms and add-ons on the plans page. If you’ve confirmed your configuration, place your order.
